Web V1

Privacy, in plain English.

What BuyCompare AU uses to check a model, what stays on your device, and what is not collected in this early version.

Summary

BuyCompare AU Web V1 checks the product URL or model number you enter against a small built-in catalogue of exact product identifiers. During this version, that check runs in your browser. The text you enter is not sent to a BuyCompare comparison server.

Your local watchlist

If you choose to save an exact model, BuyCompare stores the product name, manufacturer model, category and optional target price in local browser storage on that device. It is not a live alert. You can remove saved models from the Watchlist section, or clear your browser storage to remove them.

What Web V1 does not collect

  • No customer account, password or payment information.
  • No email address, phone number or push-notification permission.
  • No browser history, retailer account details, cart information or checkout data.
  • No current retailer price or stock data from a BuyCompare live feed.

Analytics, advertising and sale of information

Web V1 has no customer analytics service, advertising SDK or data-sale programme. BuyCompare does not sell personal information.

Future changes

BuyCompare will update this page before introducing customer accounts, live retailer data, email or push alerts, analytics, or a new data collection purpose. Any future retailer link will remain optional for the shopper and will not change the price paid by the shopper.

Questions

For retailer or affiliate-network enquiries during Web V1, please use the authorised BuyCompare AU publisher profile supplied with the relevant application. A public contact channel will be added before general release.
